Queen Elizabeth II Welcomes 7th Great-Grandchild into the World

Share

Experts differ on how long the British royal line has existed. Some say it has been around for 1,000 years and others for about 1,500 years and still others for about as long as people have inhabited Old Blighty.

Whatever the specific number, the Royal Family has maintained its power and prestige in part because its members like to have a lot of babies. And as of June 18, Queen Elizabeth II has welcomed yet another great-grandchild into the royal world.

It might seem something of a stretch to call Prince Harry and Prince William’s cousin Zara Tindall a royal since neither she nor her husband, former rugby player Mike Tindall, have a title.

But blood is blood when it comes to the daughter of Princess Anne (who herself is Queen Elizabeth’s only girl).

The Royal Family has announced the birth of Tindall’s child, a girl weighing a whopping 9 pounds, 3 ounces. In fact, that makes the newest Tindall also the biggest royal baby in 100 years.

Fans of the monarchy will have to wait to learn more about the little tyke, though. The announcement stated, “The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course.”

The birth must seem bittersweet for Zara and Mike. Though they had their first daughter, Mia, in 2014, Zara lost a second pregnancy in 2016.

She hasn’t publicly commented on the painful event. However, her husband stated, “One thing you do learn is how many other people have to go through the same thing.

“The saving grace for us has been Mia. However down we feel, she will come running up in our faces.”

Yes, children are a gift indeed, and today Queen Elizabeth must herself feel truly blessed.

In addition to Mia (4 years old), she now counts Savannah Philips (7), Isla Phillips (5), Prince George (5), Princess Charlotte (3), Prince Louis (1-month), and the littlest Tindall among her great-grandchildren.

The newest Royal baby technically could one day sit on the throne, but watchers shouldn’t bet on it. She currently stands nineteenth in line.

For now, though, she stands simply as a blessing, a balm to heal her parents’ hearts. We wish the Tindalls every blessing.
