After Weeks of Searching, Woman Finally Finds and Adopts Stray that Saved Her from Creeps

Dogs and people have a pact, a mutually beneficial bond that has existed for a long time. It’s a connection that was forged from the first moment a canine loosed a warning growl to frighten off an attacker.

Sometimes dogs will protect people even when they’ve had no prior contact. That’s exactly what happened when a British woman ran into trouble while vacationing abroad.

According to Metro, Georgia Bradley was in Crete, Greece, with her boyfriend in 2015. With its azure waters, white-sand beaches and heartbreakingly quaint seaside hamlets, it must’ve seemed the perfect romantic getaway.

However, their getaway soon shifted from sweet to scary. One day, Bradley decided to go for a walk on the beach by herself.

Her boyfriend was relaxing in a cafe at the time. During her stroll, Bradley found herself approached by a pair of men.

They insinuated themselves next to her and asked her to go for a drink with them. She wisely refused.

But they didn’t take kindly to her rejection. In the blink of an eye, Bradley found herself facing a physical confrontation.

“One of them grabbed me on the arm and I didn’t know what was going to happen,” she told The Telegraph. “I was on my own and it was a very scary and difficult situation.”

Help appeared without warning; a small, black dog raced toward the trio, yapping its head off.

It “shot out of nowhere, jumped up at me and began barking and licking my hand, and that made the men think twice,” Bradley said. “She saved me.”

“She must have noticed something was wrong. When I went back to the apartment she followed me and finally let us stroke her.”

Soon enough, Bradley and her boyfriend found they had a little black shadow. The dog followed them everywhere they went.

When they drove to the airport to fly back home, the plucky canine even raced after their vehicle.

“When I got home,” she said, “I couldn’t stop thinking about her, so I took the soonest flight back out that I could, which was two weeks later.”

She didn’t find the doggo, launching a five-week effort that required two more trips.

When she eventually found the pooch (who she named Pepper), it was in the same town and on the same beach.

Bradley went through all of the applicable bureaucratic steps to adopt Pepper. Those included vaccinations and quarantine.

She had one final surprise waiting for her even after she got Pepper home. The small dog gave birth to six puppies a week after arriving in the United Kingdom.

“It has been such a crazy journey,” she said. “But I am over the moon.”
