Age 7 Boy Sends Letter to Dad in Heaven, Postman Sends Him Heartwarming Reply

The holidays are a time associated with fun festivities and family. But it’s not an easy season for everyone.

Sometimes the person you love most of all is no longer present. So instead of feeling comfort and joy, you experience moments of aching grief and sorrow.

A 7-year-old Scottish boy named Jase understands this all too well. According to the Daily Mail, the lad’s father, James, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 28.

That tragic event occurred in 2014. And this year, with the holidays fast approaching, Jase decided to write a heartfelt letter to his father up in heaven.

When Jase was finished composing his note, he turned his attention to the envelope. Using his very best penmanship, he issued a plea to the UK’s Royal Mail service in pencil.

“Mr. Postman,” the youngster’s message read, “can you take this to heaven for my dad’s birthday thanks.”

Postal professionals everywhere have a reputation for braving rain, sleet, snow and other challenging elements. So when Assistant Delivery Office Manager Sam Milligan saw Jase’s correspondence, he answered the call of duty without delay.

In a Facebook post that has since gone viral, Jase’s mother detailed the uplifting outcome. A grateful Teri Copland shared the touching words included with Milligan’s response.

Milligan assured young Jase “that this particular important item of mail has been delivered.”

The memo went on to describe how his determined team had navigated “stars and other galactic objects” to reach their heavenly destination.

As of Friday morning, Copland’s social media post has been shared nearly 260,000 times. It features close-up photos of the two notes, plus some poignant parental words of thanks to Royal Mail staffers for the “lovely reply.”

“I actually cannot state how emotional he is knowing his dad got his card,” Copland said of her son. She also acknowledged that “you didn’t have to make the effort to do this, you could have just ignored it.”

Copland added that she was incredibly touched the local mail service would be so caring and accommodating for “a little boy you’ve never met.”

Jase’s mother concluded by assuring Royal Mail employees that they had restored her “faith in humanity.” The service replied via Twitter, “To bring smiles to the faces of the community is our absolute priority.”

Copland described her deceased husband as “an amazing dad with such a great character.” She told the Daily Mail that Jase “is very like him in personality.”

Copland also said that her young son “loves looking at his pictures and reading the stories his dad’s friends have written in a memory book.” Fortunately, if Jase decides to write his beloved father again, the Royal Mail knows precisely the way to reach him.
