Baby Girl Falls Asleep After Mother with Beautiful Voice Starts Singing

Share

What’s your all-time favorite lullaby? It’s amazing how these sweetly nurturing songs can stick with us throughout life.

Simple tunes like this have been soothing infants and children for centuries, after all.

In fact, BBC News reports that one of the earliest known lullabies was etched into a palm-sized clay tablet, and dates back to roughly 2,000 B.C.

Maybe this sense of comforting familiarity is what helped a recent Rumble video go viral so swiftly. It was originally posted by a user named Kailey Edwards, and to date it’s earned over 10 thousand plays.

Initially, the three-minute snippet is straightforward enough.

A young mom bounces her adorable baby daughter on her knee. At the same time, the charming piano introduction to Rachel Platten’s “Better Place” begins filling the room.

But then, Edwards starts singing along. And it’s clear the little girl is mesmerized by the sound of her mama’s lovely voice.

“Your touch is sunlight through the trees, your kisses are the ocean breeze,” croons Edwards lovingly. The little lady she’s holding gradually grows calm and serene.

“And I hold my favorite thing, I hold the happiness you bring,” continues Edwards. A few measures later, she intones the sunny chorus, “It’s a better place since you came along.”

Pretty soon, baby begins to yawn contentedly. Her tiny eyelids start to droop as the lilting melody keeps playing.

After a while, this sweet little one can’t help but snuggle her head against Mom’s supportive shoulder. The piano recording progresses in the background, and all seems right with the world.

According to BBC News, Royal London Hospital has undertaken an initiative that encourages new mothers to learn, share and create lullabies. Zoe Palmer is a musician working on the project.

“Wherever you go in the world, women use the same tones, the same sort of way of singing to their babies,” Palmer says. Researchers even point to a characteristic rocking cadence that echoes familiar swaying movements infants experience in the womb.

But Edwards herself seems mainly concerned with pacifying, praising and encouraging her daughter.

Mom eventually lifts the drowsy little girl onto her shoulder as the song continues. And it’s not long before this sleepy wee one settles in for a gratified nap.

“There’s a song in my heart, I feel like I belong,” Edwards sings as the tune winds down softly. By then, the baby is fast asleep — and all of social media is absolutely enchanted.
