Two Friends Dancing on Valentine's Day Captured in Sweet Video by Teacher
Are you having a stressed-out week? Sometimes, it’s easy to start daydreaming about simpler times.
Take grade school, for instance. At one point during childhood, your biggest worry might have been choosing the cutest Valentine’s Day cards for all your classmates.
Of course, adulthood eventually intervenes. Sometimes, it’s even tough to recall the effortless satisfaction of dancing with a dear friend or sweetheart.
But thanks to a recent Facebook video featuring two adorable young students, we all get to stop and remember.
Westwood Elementary School is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. According to the school’s website, Maureen Lawson is one of the special services teachers on staff.
Lawson was getting her classroom all decked out for Valentine’s Day. It’s safe to assume the preparations probably included colorful decorations, construction paper hearts, and the like.
Then she looked over and saw two young friends celebrating in the sweetest way.
Not everyone agrees on the exact origins of Valentine’s Day. The New York Times presents a pretty long list of possibilities.
Some folks attribute the holiday to an ancient festival, but many historians are more convinced it all began as a celebration honoring Saint Valentine.
One professor even suggests that Valentine’s Day commemorates a few specific works by the poet Geoffrey Chaucer. And a lot of people also view Feb. 14 as a way to start welcoming spring.
Regardless of its exact heritage, our contemporary Valentine’s Day is unquestionably a chance to show others how much we care.
Maybe that’s why Mrs. Lawson was so charmed by the endearing scene she witnessed. She was also quick enough to grab a recording device and capture a video on the spot.
The now-viral snippet posted on Facebook shows two students spontaneously dancing right there in the classroom. Both are wearing festive red attire, presumably in honor of Valentine’s Day.
“Mrs. Lawson just looked over and saw these two friends spontaneously were having a Valentine’s Day dance!” Westwood Elementary School wrote. “If this doesn’t make your whole day I don’t know what will!!!”
This spur-of-the-moment Valentine’s Day waltz has already racked up several million views across social media. And the comments prove that viewers are totally enchanted by the sweet innocence on display.
Gretchen Howell, the mother of the dancing young man, wrote, “That is just the sweetest thing… thank you for capturing/sharing this moment of my boy and his friend.”
