Watch Sweet Groom Walk Through Mud Puddles To Carry Bride to Altar After Aisle Floods

Ever had one of those days? You know, a day when all your careful plans were foiled by several tense moments of haphazard randomness?

Everyone can relate. Maybe your brand new sweater got ripped to shreds on a rusty nail. Maybe you slipped on a patch of ice while transporting the doughnuts for that big morning meeting.

The examples are literally endless. The outcome, unfortunately, is uniformly upsetting.

But when “one of those days” happens to be your highly anticipated wedding day, the stress factor really tends to skyrocket. Just ask Twiz and Nicole Stanley.

It’s often said that matrimonial vows are taken for better, or for worse. Occasionally, however, the “worse” part shows up a little earlier than expected.

This Alvarado, Texas, couple had spent the better part of two years mapping out their perfect dream ceremony. According to Fox 4, they’d really hoped to hold the outdoor nuptials on their very own property.

But fast forward to the big day itself, and let’s just say things weren’t going precisely according to plan. In fact, Mother Nature seemed to be having a fairly major snit fit.

It all started when two separate tornadoes touched down in nearby Hill County. This produced a rainy deluge of near-disastrous proportions in Alvarado.

Try to picture the scenario for a moment. Your tents and tables are all set up. Your delicate decorations are fluttering away in a gusty and blustery breeze.

A video snippet posted on Facebook captures some of the chaos. But mostly, it depicts an adorable aftermath that’s earning applause all across social media.

“Since Texas weather is so unpredictable at times, we just kept our fingers crossed,” Nicole explained to Fox 4. “By the time we realized that the rain was going to remain in the forecast, there was nothing we could really do to change our plans or move to another venue or anything.”

In fact, several tents on the property apparently collapsed due to the heavy downpour. So when it was almost time to walk down the aisle, only a single tent remained standing.

Sadly, that one tent wasn’t enough to prevent the dreaded by-product of all that precipitation: mud.

Twiz and his friends made a valiant effort to clean up the general area, but the mud puddles were just too messy. As Nicole told Fox 4, “I had no idea how much it had rained and how flooded everything was until I walked out of the limo, down the aisle with my mom and dad, and saw it.”

But Twiz was about to pledge his lifetime adoration and support to his beautiful bride. And he realized there was only one thing left to do.

He scooped up Nicole, and gave her a gallant piggy-back ride to the altar. It was a symbolic gesture that sweetly demonstrated he’d stand right beside her through all of life’s storms.

“He’s always been my best friend and he’s always rescued me in so many ways,” Nicole said. “But that day and that moment, he was truly my knight in shining armor, my hero.”

The heartwarming moral of this story? Nothing whatsoever can drown out true love.
