Woman Finds Surprise Inside Lost Purse After Chick-fil-A Ships It Back to Her
They say everything’s bigger in Texas. Evidently, that includes hospitality as well.
At least, that certainly seems to be the case based upon a jubilant Facebook post from Lindsey Jones. This school teacher from Lorena, Texas, got herself into a distressing jam most women can totally relate to.
Here’s a hint: Ever leave your purse behind in a public place? Got a female acquaintance or loved one who’s encountered this dilemma?
Then you know it can lead to a pretty hefty set of anxieties. In fact, just thinking about the various personal provisions packed inside said purse, some ladies in this situation experience actual panic attacks.
It doesn’t appear that Jones herself displayed quite this extremity of emotion. But that’s pretty applause-worthy, given the circumstances at hand.
As the Facebook post explains, it all started when Jones and her family were driving from New Mexico back to her hometown in January 2018. They stopped in Lubbock, Texas, to grab a quick bite at Chick-fil-A.
Fast-forward three whole hours later. Jones and her gang realized they were getting low on gas, so they stopped to fill up in Abilene.
That’s when Jones realized she’d forgotten her purse. And of course, the last place she’d been was that extremely distant Lubbock Chick-fil-A.
So like most women would, Jones placed a rather frantic phone call.
Darcey Cuellar works as director of hospitality at the Lubbock restaurant location. She told Houston’s ABC 13 that she took the call that day, and Jones sounded understandably rattled.
First and foremost, Cuellar located the purse and assured Jones that it was safe and sound. Then, figuring a three-hour return trip was absolutely out of the question, she helpfully offered to ship it back.
Relieved, Jones thanked Cuellar and hung up the phone. But her Facebook post indicates that she called Chick-fil-A right back, “after thinking about all the very important things in my purse that I would need ASAP.”
This next time, she spoke to Casey Kovar, director of operations. He understood completely, and physically drove the purse to a nearby FedEx location so it would arrive the very next day.
That amounted to a nearly seven-pound Saturday delivery, and Jones offered to provide her own FedEx account number to help compensate. But the Chick-fil-A team assured her it was all taken care of.
Jones’ amazed Facebook post details what happened when the purse arrived. She opened the shipping container to find not only her fully-intact purse, but a bunch of great goodies as well.
The thoughtful stash included six Chick-fil-A gift cards for complimentary food, plus two fuzzy cows sporting the company catchphrase “Eat Mor Chikin.”
To date, Jones’ super-positive social media post has racked up over 1,500 shares and 6,000 likes. And she says the whole incident has “restored my faith in humanity.”
“Thank you, thank you, thank you Darcy and Casey for being so awesome,” wrote Jones. While she acknowledges that the tough situation was “1,000% my fault,” she also expresses profound gratitude that her purse was found “by good, honest people.”
