77-Year-Old Woman at ATM When Three Men Appear. But Soon Find Out, They Messed With the Wrong Granny

Grandmas around the globe have a special tenacity and because of … well, for whatever reason, we seem to always underestimate them. And that’s often our first mistake of many.
It’s a mistake that Piper Dumitru, Florin Geblescu, and Felix Stoica will most likely not make again. Once they get out of jail, that is.
British grandmother Winifred Peel, age 77, was out for a day when she realized she needed to stop at an ATM. That’s when things got interesting.
As she attempted to take care of her transaction, she suddenly felt the presence of a person to her right. Before she knew what was happening, he had pushed her and knocked her off-balance.
It was then that she realized another man was behind her. Something in her mind triggered a memory.
She had seen both of these men earlier in the day. Coming out of a bank, of all places.
The second man then reached over her and attempted to withdraw £200. These were not a couple of guys who were impatient, these were theives!
As the second man attempted to retrieve the withdrawl, Peel sprang into action. She grabbed the man by the collar and banged his head into the ATM.
She got in three good hits like that before the men hightailed it out of there. Peel reported the incident and the men were picked up a short time later.

The thing that identified them as the thieves was the blood-streaked face of Stoica, the man whose head had gotten smashed into the ATM by Peel. The men were charged and are currently serving jail time, which was a surprise to Peel who thought they’d merely get a stern talking-to.
Peel told The Metro that the incident won’t have her roaming the streets looking for bands of thugs. “They did not care about how this would affect me. I would definitely say this has changed my life, I will never have the confidence I once did. I only hope my confidence returns.”
She should be more confident in her abilities, though, because she clearly left a mark on the trio. Having grown up with three rough-housing brothers and regularly going to the gym four times a week even in her 70s made her a force that the band of young men clearly did not expect.
