Dad Leaps into Son's Arms While Crying Tears of Joy After Being Surprised with New Truck
We owe so much to those who worked hard to raise us. It’s always a wonderful feeling to give something back to parents and other crucial figures who helped us on the way to becoming adults.
An Alabama father just received the sweetest gift from an even sweeter son — and his reaction was priceless.
Diantae Thomas, a 25-year-old, admires his father, Lester, for his hard work. Lester, 56, does lawn care for a living.
“POPS is a hard working man,” Diantae wrote in a heartfelt Facebook post. “If y’all seen him working, he falls asleep on the lawnmower under trees & leaning against the trees with the weed eater sleeping working to make ends meet.”
When Lester’s car broke down two years ago, he and his family were unable to afford a new vehicle. Regardless, he didn’t stop working. Instead, Lester’s wife drove him to and from work every day.
Diantae knew how hard this routine was on his parents. He wanted to help his dad out.
Secretly, Indoor Football League player Diantae began setting aside funds to buy Lester a new truck. After two years of earning and saving, he could finally afford to purchase his father a Ford-F150.
When it came time for the grand reveal, Diantae didn’t just park the truck in his father’s driveway. He decided to make the surprise as special as possible.
In an emotional video Diantae later posted to YouTube, Lester is led out of his house in a blindfold. Family members watched Diantae direct his father to the shiny new truck parked curbside.
As soon as Lester’s blindfold was removed, he cried out.
“That’s your truck, boy?” Lester yelled.
“That’s yours,” Diantae said.
Lester yelped for joy before jumping right into his son’s arms.
“I felt like a man,” Diantae told the Mirror. “That’s the feeling I always wanted to do — give back to my parents. It was the most breathtaking moment of my life when he jumped — I felt so much relief and joy.”
In his Facebook post, Diantae expressed that he thanks God for the opportunity to do something extraordinary for his father.
“LORD, I promise to keep STRIVING TIL [infinity],” he wrote.
