'Pioneer Woman' Ree Drummond's 19-Year-Old Daughter Arrested

Share

When we watch TV shows featuring what seems to be flawless family life, we tend to forget that perfection doesn’t really exist. That may be why bad news about our favorite role models always seems to shock us.

You’ve probably heard of “The Pioneer Woman” even if you aren’t a faithful fan of her Food Network show. Perhaps you’ve spotted her colorful cookware on the shelves of your local Walmart or referred to a recipe for a yummy potato casserole on her blog.

Maybe you’ve even purchased her adorable Pioneer Woman Barbie doll for a child in your life, or her branded dog treats for your furry friend.

Drummond’s dedication to family life is part of her massive appeal. As a mother of four, the Pioneer Woman is open about her close relationship with her husband and children. She often posts heartwarming photos of her family on her Instagram and blog.

They used to be tiny.

Drummond’s 19-year-old daughter, Paige, left home for her first year to attend the University of Arkansas in 2018. In an emotional Instagram post, her mother expressed how hard it would be to watch her second-eldest daughter leave the nest.

“This stuff is hard, friends,” she captioned the snapshot of a sweet mother-and-daughter moment.

However, not everything about life is picture-perfect. Paige recently entered the spotlight for a less positive reason.

E!News recently revealed that the college freshman was arrested in April for underage drinking.

The teen was taken to an Oklahoma jail, according to acquired court documents.

The court documents stated that Paige “appeared in a drunken condition” when she was seen with an open beer “containing more than one-half of one-percent of alcohol measured by weight, in a public place.”

The teen’s crime of underage drinking could have landed her one year in jail on top of a $500 fee. Possession of alcohol in public is punishable in itself, with a potential 30-day jail sentence and/or a fine of up to $100.

My tiny girls (and my tiny arms, ha) in Yellowstone in…2003? Or maybe it was 1947. Either way, it was forever ago. I had just dyed my hair dark brown, and Bryce was a sweet little 9-month old nugget whom we’d left at the hotel in Teton Village with Ladd’s mom that day. The girls both got sick (stomach bug!) while we were in Yellowstone, but by golly, I wasn’t leaving without this photo! When this photo was taken, I thought I was going to be a mom of three; little did I know that Todd would be in the picture awhile later. Sweet times, happy times, and I’d go back and do it all again in a heartbeat if I could. (I hope this helps parents of little kids to dig in and enjoy life right now. Stomach bugs during day trips to national parks and all…)

However, Paige escaped jail time with a little over $400 in fines. According to E!News, Paige’s district attorney agreed to erase the crimes from her record in May.

Although the incident has now entered the public eye, Drummond hasn’t addressed the situation on her blog or social media accounts. It seems that the Pioneer Woman prefers to keep some aspects of her family life private.

It’s likely that the situation will fade from news headlines as Drummond focuses her energy on other matters, such as operating her new hotel, The Mercantile. Meanwhile, the Pioneer Woman hasn’t strayed from expressing how much she loves her children unconditionally, as she continues to post sweet photos of her two college-age daughters and two teenage sons.

Everyone makes mistakes. Thankfully, we also have the opportunity to learn from them and move on to better and brighter things.
