1,000 Corgis Covered This Beach for 'Corgi Con' and the Photos Are Too Cute for Words

You’ve heard of Comic-Con. You may have even heard of BookCon. But did you know there’s a convention geared toward a particular group of pet owners?

They’re cute, they’re cuddly and they’re also a good source of entertainment. Known for their short legs and bat-like ears, the corgi isn’t just Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite breed — Americans have fallen in love with these pooches as well.

Welcome the Corgi Con — the annual corgi-lover fest you may not have known takes place in California each year.

According to VT, 2019 marks the fifth annual Corgi Con. This year’s event took place on Ocean Beach. The Corgi Con website notes this beach is north of “San FranCorgsco.”

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that there were a good 1,000 corgis present at the event on Saturday, June 15.

“Corgis look really funny,” 14-year-old corgi owner Alaina Roberts told the Chronicle. “But corgis don’t know they look really funny.”

Would you ever attend an event like this?

Funny looking but truly lovable, the corgi — or Pembroke Welsh Corgi, if we’re using proper names — is known for its bright personality and teachable spirit.

“The Pembroke is a bright, sensitive dog who enjoys play with his human family and responds well to training…” AKC’s website states.

“Families who can meet their bold but kindly Pembroke’s need for activity and togetherness will never have a more loyal, loving pet.”

It’s clear to see these dogs are as fun as their owners.

At Corgi Con, there’s no telling what you might see — from corgis in sunglasses to tutus.

The con is packed full of memory-making activities for dogs and their owners.

Everyone loves a good contest. Best costume? Check! Corgi Ninja Warrior? Corgi Con has it all.

“The day is all about pure bliss and happiness,” Cynthia Lee, organizer and founder of Corgi Con, told This Dog’s Life. “For a few hours, there is nothing but ear to ear smiles, the never ending sound of  ‘awws,’ and derpy good times all around.”

Aren’t these dogs just the cutest? You might already be married to the breed you love. But maybe, just maybe, these photos have turned your head and have you dreaming about attending Corgi Con — with your own corgi in tow — next year.
