7-Year-Old Gymnast Goes Up Against State Trooper Dad in Adorable Pull-Up Competition

Share

Different challenges often pop up all over social media. Some are serious while others are downright hilarious.

Now a North Carolina State Trooper and a gymnast have gone head-to-head — or arm-to-arm — in a challenge so viral, it might just spark others to do one of their own.

Brad Marshall was watching his daughter Eden’s practice at Hart Gymnastics Academy when her coach got an idea that had everyone cheering.

Eden may only be 7, but don’t let her size and age fool you. This girl is mightier than she appears. Her strength and spirit went hand-in-hand when it came to doing a pull-up challenge against her dad.

“Her coach needed help measuring a mat,” Eden’s mom, Amanda Marshall, told Liftable, a section of The Western Journal.

“She (coach Abbi) then [asked] if the girls wanted to see a pull up Challenge between Brad and Eden!”

Of course the officer couldn’t back down from such a challenge. He walked up to that bar and with his daughter at his side, everyone started counting.

Do you think you could beat your dad in a pull-up challenge?

The entire match was caught on film and shared on Twitter by NC Highway Patrol.

“Despite his hard work (and the fact his duty belt weighed more than his competitor), Trooper Marshall ultimately lost out to a tough young lady,” @NCSHP wrote.

This is certainly all in good fun, but the bond between father and daughter goes far beyond what you see in the video.

“My [husband’s] main goal in life is to have Eden know she can do ANYTHING she puts her mind [to]!!” Amanda told Liftable.

“He wrote her a book and in the info he writes ‘seeing you succeed in life as a Christian and as the girl that will follow her dreams no matter what they are, will be my greatest accomplishment in life.'”

According to “Good Morning America,” both of Eden’s parents want to make sure she knows how important she is.

Amanda also shared with Liftable that Eden and her dad have some special words they repeat each day — words that everyone ought to hear.

“You are strong. You are beautiful. You are talented. And You are smart. To [the] determined goes the spoils,”  they say. “They have a bond that can not be broken!” Amanda added.

It’s clear she’s right. With Father’s Day just around the corner, don’t forget to tell the dad in your life — whether he be your father or just a good friend — what an impact he’s made on your life.
