Age 10 Girl Hears Aunt Screaming, Helps Save Newborn Baby with Tips She Learned on YouTube

Share

There’s a YouTube tutorial for everything these days. Some are not so helpful, but others have helped DIYers save time and money.

From doing your own oil changes to treating minor injuries, anyone with a little know-how can teach others how to help themselves.

Of course, some of the kids’ videos can become a little baffling. I’ll admit, I’ve often wondered why some days my kids would rather watch someone play with toys on YouTube than play with toys themselves.

But the story of how a 10-year-old girl from Virginia saved her baby cousin’s life has perked my ears.

It’s definitely made me rethink a few things when it comes to certain YouTube videos for kids. Maybe it will do the same for you.

According to ABC 7 WJLA, Chloe Carrion was home alone with her aunt, Dominique Spann, on the day she gave birth.

No one in the family knew the 21-year-old was pregnant. “She screamed my name and she says I had a baby!” Chloe shared with the news outlet, recalling how her aunt had gone to the bathroom with pains in her stomach.

Her aunt had given birth in the bathroom. Chloe is only 10 and could have panicked. Instead, she jumped into action.

“She had lost a lot of blood,” she told NBC 4 WRC-TV. “She had fell down and she passed out. So I grabbed the baby and called 911.”

Chloe gives credit to YouTube videos for helping her know what to do. While on the phone with 911, she cut the umbilical cord and swaddled her new cousin.

“I watch YouTube videos about people playing with dolls,” Chloe shared with NBC 4. “I see them care for the babies, so I used stuff I knew from the videos.”

Wow! This is amazing! She’s a smart little girl and her new cousin, who NBC reported is named Isaac, is doing just fine.

I’m very proud of her,” April West, Chloe’s mother, told Fox 19 WJLA. “She was so brave. Even as an adult, I don’t think I could have done what she did.”

I’ll bet the two cousins become the best of friends. No doubt little Isaac will be grateful to know that he has Chloe looking out for him.
