Firefighter Sees Stray Husky Wandering Alone on Train Tracks, Falls Instantly in Love
If you come across a stray dog, you should always be a little cautious. And not just for the multiple safety reasons, either.
Dog lovers everywhere know it can be all too easy to fall in love with a pooch at first sight. YouTuber and firefighter Maxx Powell learned this lesson the hard way when he found a lost husky on the side of the road.

In a video originally shared to Powell’s YouTube channel, the outdoor adventurer showed the moment he met the dog he lovingly called “Merlin.” The dog had been wandering across the road, following the train tracks.
Powell pulled over and called to the dog, worried it would be hit by a car or train if left out alone with no sight of the owner.
“I thought it would be exciting to film the encounter. I did not want her running down the train tracks and potentially getting hit by a car or a train,” Powell said, according to the Newsflare video caption on Rumble.
While the vlogger was certain the animal would be scared of him, Powell was pleasantly surprised to find that the dog was friendly and even cuddly.
So he did what any upstanding dog-lover would do: Powell put the husky in his truck and headed to the animal clinic to see if an identification chip might tell him more.
Not only did he find that the dog had not been chipped — Powell also discovered that the dog he’d referred to as a male and named “Merlin” was actually a female.
Throughout the video, Powell mentions several times that he’s becoming attached to the dog. He even says having a husky is a dream of his.
It’s clear he had high hopes of keeping her, even if his wife didn’t approve. But after posting about “Merlin” on social media, the dog’s owner was soon found.
“I am very grateful that he found her,” the owner said, according to the Rumble caption. “If he had not of got there, she would have been gone because that train would have come through no matter what.”
“Although bringing this dog in really changed our plans for the day [it’s] always worth while to help a lost dog,” Powell noted in his YouTube caption. “Huskies are known to slip away and run miles and miles.”
