Giant 20-Foot Cross Found Washed Ashore on Beach in Florida

Share

You never know how a prayer might be answered. Whether through a kind word or act from a stranger or even a sign from heaven, those with faith know the Lord works in mysterious ways.

And what washed up on the beach in south Florida is certainly mysterious. But it was not a message in a bottle or even a lost pirate ship — though it might be considered a sunken treasure to some.

Twenty feet in length and covered with barnacles and seaweed, an old wooden cross appeared as if from nowhere on the beach behind the Ocean Manor Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale.

John Moschella, the man who discovered the cross, says some suggest it could have come from Puerto Rico.

“Others have said the Keys,” he told WSVN. “It’s really unknown where it has come from.”

No matter where it came from, the hotel’s owner, Frank Talerico, suggests it could be a sign and may have shown up because his sister had been praying at the property that very morning.

Do you believe in signs from heaven?

“She’s like, ‘You know what. It’s not that big a deal. I just had a bad dream and a bad feeling, so I wanted to come here and pray,’” Talerico told WSVN. “And I said, ‘Okay, thanks for doing that.’”

WSVN reported it took seven people and four ATVs just to move the cross up the shore. That’s one heavy heavenly sign!

Visitors have a lot to say about the cross, too. “I felt really heavenly about it,” an out-of-towner from Michigan, Greg Gay, told WSVN.

“It was a moment in time,” he went on. “Had we been 10 minutes before or 10 minutes later, we wouldn’t have seen it.”

Gay shared a video of the cross on Facebook.

Now, everyone is getting their chance to take a look. Talerico has invited anyone who wishes to see the cross to come on by and snap a selfie if they like.

“I’m glad it’s here,” he told WSVN. “It’s staying here, and if anybody wants to come see it or take a picture with it, they’re more than welcome.”

This is certainly quite the sight! We hope something special will be done to preserve the cross if possible. For now, it seems to be an added attraction for anyone visiting the hotel.

What do you think? Is it a coincidence the crossed showed up following a prayer? Or is this washed up symbol something much more?
