He Gives Titanic-Obsessed Girlfriend 'Heart of the Ocean' Necklace Before Dropping to 1 Knee
One of the most iconic romances of our time is the story of Jack and Rose in James Cameron’s epic film, “Titanic.”
While some might say the film was too dramatic or sappy, there was never a dry eye in the theater all 12 times I saw the movie on the big screen.
The Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, knows there are plenty of couples who would love to recreate the classic staircase scene.
“It’s the beginning of your forever after…” the proposal package page on the website reads. “…make it unforgettable from the start on Titanic’s Grand Staircase.”
A proposal package includes a Grand Staircase proposal, someone to assist with set up, museum admission for two, and a souvenir photo.
Jeremy Brown of Houston, Texas, and his girlfriend, Mori Madrid, are big “Titanic” fans. So it’s no surprise they would make the trek to Pigeon Forge to visit the attraction.
Madrid had no idea what her boyfriend was planning. Brown kept his secret well, looking forward to an extra special themed surprise during their time in Tennessee.
“You know how hard it was to keep that secret for that long?” Brown told Fox 17. He had everything set from a replica of the Heart of the Ocean necklace to the tuxedo Jack wears in the film.
The museum was with Brown every step of the way, too. “They were 100% involved,” he shared with Fox 17.
Madrid believed she was dressed up because they would be attending a ball. When Brown asked her to put on a blindfold, he gave her the familiar line, “Do you trust me?”
It was all up the staircase from there. An event coordinator at the museum named Christina escorted Madrid to her waiting spot.
When Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” started to swell over the speakers, Madrid said, “Oh, Jeremy… he’s so amazing,” with a big smile on her face. The museum captured the entire moment on video.
“I heard the music come on and thinking this is so beautiful,” Madrid told Fox 17. “Once I opened my eyes I would be looking for Jeremy. I just wanted him close.”
Christina took Madrid’s blindfold and handed her a note from Brown. The note read, “Meet me at the clock. Make it count.”
When she turned around, she saw her “Jack” standing at the top of the grand staircase. But before Brown got down on one knee, he knew his “Rose” needed her Heart of the Ocean.
When he proposed at last, there was nothing else Madrid could say but “yes.” The happy couple kissed and embraced, a moment they will no doubt remember forever.
The couple has plans for a short engagement as they’ve been together for 6 years. Their wedding is planned for December 22, just in time for the holidays.
