Grandpa Dying 4 Floors Below Granddaughter in Labor. Baby Rushed to Room Before His Death

Share

From generation to generation, family is the most important thing in the world. Sadly, though, our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents often pass on before getting a chance to meet our children.

My mom passed away when I was pregnant with my second child. I always think, if she had just lived a little while longer, she would have had a chance to meet my baby, even if only for a moment.

Family bonds are a precious thing indeed. And whether we get to spend years with our loved ones, or simply a few minutes, those memories are ones we will cherish forever.

Thanks to the help of a nurse from Virtua Voorhees Hospital in New Jersey, one family had the opportunity to connect two very special family members.

Joy Phero, 20, was raised by her grandparents. Her grandfather, in particular, played a very important role in her life.

Charles “Buck” Marshall, affectionately known as “Pop Pop,” was a source of strength during Phero’s childhood years.

“He taught me how to be strong and how to keep my chin held high in the toughest of situations,” she said.

So when Phero gave birth to her baby daughter, Chloe May, she knew the little girl needed to meet this very special man.

Thankfully, Chloe was born in the same hospital where “Pop Pop” was already receiving care for pancreatic cancer.

With only floors separating them, Phero enlisted the help of Nurse Randi Boucher. When Both Phero and her infant were taken into her grandfather’s room, the result was priceless. “My biggest fear my whole pregnancy was my pop pop not being able to meet Chloe,” Phero wrote on Facebook.

Watch “Pop Pop’s” reaction as his very first great-granddaughter is placed right beside his bed. His tears of joy will melt your heart.

You can even hear soft sobs coming from behind the camera. What a sweet moment shared among several generations of one family.

“Pop Pop” has since passed on, but his memory hasn’t ceased. Phero certainly won’t allow little Chloe to forget him as he held such a special place in Phero’s heart.
