You'll Love This Version of 'The 12 Days of Christmas' Made for Teachers
When December rolls around, school-aged children are practically bursting at the seams, counting down the days until winter break and, of course, Christmas.
Boring old math lessons are replaced with themed worksheets. Writing assignments consist of imagining a day at the North Pole.
Class parties are in full swing and classrooms transform, their walls decked with paper chains and homemade snowflakes.
Teachers work hard to bring all the holiday magic while still managing to keep some sense of education going on until that final school bell of the year rings.
Students can become restless and impatient. Still, somehow, our amazing educators draw them back in, recounting the history of St. Nick or conducting a science experiment using Christmas cookies.
The patience and compassion teachers carry with them is nothing short of amazing. They do it all and so much more.
One group of elementary school educators decided to take time out of this busy season and sing an alternate version of the popular carol “The 12 Days of Christmas.”
The Lakenheath Elementary School teachers certainly know how to turn on their silly sides. When you see the video they shared, you’ll understand why it has gone viral.
Twelve teachers. Twelve festive outfits. Twelve woes every teacher can relate to. Watch as these educators take a new spin on a classic. You won’t be able to stop laughing. The students sure couldn’t!
I don’t know which day is my favorite. Even parents can relate to these popular complaints from their kiddos. The commenters agree!
“Every line is so true!,” one person wrote. “These teachers are awesome,” another said. Still another noted, “I don’t remember my teachers being this much fun!”
Of course, this isn’t the first time a group of teachers got together to perform a parody of this Christmas song. Despite what their students may believe, teachers just wanna have fun!

Which school did it best? I enjoyed both, but I have to give the teachers in the first video props for including a reference to the “flossing” dance trend. My kids loved that!
No matter which rendition takes home the gold, these videos are a good reminder that teachers like to celebrate, too.
So thank an educator this week for all they do, especially this time of year. Goodness knows they could use some holiday cheer just like the rest of us.
