After Mom Diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer, Daughter Weds Fiancé in Front of Her Hospital Bed

Share

Some moments are just too incredibly beautiful for words. For anyone who has lost a parent to cancer, the story of Jade and Jordan Rider will touch your heart in a very real way.

The couple had plans to marry in the spring of 2019. The wedding date had already been moved up due to Jade’s mother, Diane, being ill.

But when they learned Diane had stage 4 Adenoma Carcinoma, the pair moved their wedding date up even sooner.

Diane’s cancer was quickly spreading, making it difficult for her to leave her hospital bed. So, instead, the happy couple brought their wedding to her.

“I got the chance to be a part of something much larger and much more important than myself,” their photographer Payton Burris of Still Magnolia Photography wrote on Facebook.

“With this news Jade wasted no time and put together the perfect little wedding right there in her mothers room at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.”

The sweet moments of Jade and Jordan’s special day were captured in still shots and on video. From the moment Diane saw her daughter in her dress to the vows and beyond, this family shared something special that day.

“I’ve been to the big, the bad, and the beautiful weddings filled with jewels, drapes, and flowers but this by far will always be the one that I remember and hold dear to my heart,” Burris wrote. “The wedding was filled with family, a beautiful bouquet, her mothers ring, lots of smiles, a few tears, and a surprise cake from the hospital.”

“My career has led me to experience so many amazing things but I will always consider this one of the most precious moments of my life,” Burris continued.

The newlyweds were so grateful to everyone who made their day possible. “Jordan and I can’t thank everyone enough for all the kind wishes and hard work everyone put into making yesterday so special,” Jade wrote on Facebook.

Jade even shared her mother’s thoughts in a separate post. “Please let everyone know… that my heart is so full and that I could never thank them enough for all their love, support, and continued prayers,” Diane told her daughter.

Stories such as this one are great reminders of what’s important in life — sharing life’s greatest moments with the ones we love.

The bride and groom have decided to keep their original wedding date in March as well, so more can celebrate with them. The date is set for March 23, 2019 — Diane’s 60th birthday.

“We luckily get to say we got to marry the love of our life twice. How awesome!” Jade shared. How awesome, indeed.
