Mom Tells Him He's Going to Disneyland, He Can't Hold Back the Tears of Joy
If I asked you, “Where’s the happiest place on earth?” how would you answer? Would you know immediately which place I was referring to?
Even if you don’t consider Disneyland to be the best place ever (though you should), you have no doubt heard the coined tagline before. “To all who come to this happy place, welcome,” Walt Disney once said.
And in the years since, Disney’s creation has brought smiles to the faces of millions.
A kid today is just as excited to take a ride on Space Mountain, hang with Mickey Mouse, and eat a churro as a child 20 years ago.
Yes, some experiences are timeless. And 1955 or 2018, a trip to Disneyland has remained one such experience for a kid of any age.
One thing we have now that parents in 1955 didn’t, however, is easy access to a video camera. Most of us, after all, own smartphones.
A few swipes and we’re able to record anything we wish. From birthday parties to holiday moments, we have the gift of being able to store memories digitally, on the spot, wherever and whenever.
One mom took advantage of this gift when she captured the moment she surprised her son with the trip of a lifetime.
“Good morning, Noah,” photographer Melissa Ratliff begins in her video. “I have something to tell you.”
“We’re not here for a photography convention,” she continues. Watch as she keeps the video rolling while Noah reacts to his epic surprise.
His jumping for joy excitement quickly turns to tears of bliss as Noah hugs his mom and declares, “You are the best mom I’ve ever had!” While Ratliff doesn’t show her face on camera, her voice gives her away.
No doubt she got a little teary-eyed too as she and her son exchanged “I love yous” and prepared for their very special day together.
I’ll bet they had the most amazing time in their Mickey and Minnie shirts, and knowing this photographer mom, she probably captured the entire thing on film.
