Mother Shares Hilarious Post About Elf on the Shelf Fail After It Melts in Oven
Moms do it all, don’t they? In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, sometimes it can be hard to keep on top of everything.
If you’re a parent like myself, you can relate. Between cooking and cleaning and decorating and shopping and wrapping… where is the time for a little bubble bath and hot cocoa for the parent who does it all?
Add to all of this the classic Elf on the Shelf game loved by children everywhere, and you might just go more than a little crazy.
One mom totally gets it. When she grew tired of moving her family’s elf “Elfis” every day one December, she decided to come up with a plan that would get her out of at least half a month of elf hiding.
“Elfis, our elf that we’ve had for 5 years, arrived on December 1st with a broken leg,” Brittany Mease shared with Love What Matters.
“The note told the kids [Ily and Gray] that he was on strict bedrest orders and couldn’t move for 14 days. (Mom win, right? I just got a free pass to not worry about moving that creepy guy for TWO WEEKS!”
Oh, I’m dying! This is hilarious, but she’s so spot on. She goes on to share what happened next, a fail that she says has earned her the “Mom of the Year award.”
When her kiddos noticed Elfis still wasn’t moving after 14 days of “bed rest,” Brittany hid him in the oven with plans to move him later.
But then came a pre-heated oven and you can probably figure out the rest. Poor Elfis melted right there on the oven rack.
“The kids just freaked,” the mom told TODAY. “One screamed, one took off crying, another yelled, ‘Santa’s magic will fix it.'”
In the end, Brittany cared more for her kids than for her distaste of Elfis. According to WFAA, Santa returned the elf home, good as new.
In the end, the single mom shared she hopes her viral, elf-killing story will gain attention for one very important reason.
According to Mom.me, Brittany wants to “raise awareness for Ily’s fight against Chiari malformation (a structural defect in the base of the skull), epilepsy, sensory processing disorder and common variable immune deficiency.”
The mom has kept followers updated on her daughter’s journey on her Facebook page “Ily to Infinity.” It is on this very page that Brittany shared her most recent run-in with Elfis the “snitch,” as Ily calls him.
“Ily and Gray’s elf, Elfis, has arrived… but cannot stay because he has to protect the North Pole [and my sanity],” the mom wrote on Facebook.
While Elfis may be on to bigger and better things, Christmas cheer has not been lost in the Mease home by any means.
