Panic After Age 3 Daughter Goes Missing. Rescuers Find Her in Cornfield with Dog by Her Side

Share

A missing child. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare.

We all think it could never happen to us. But it only takes a second, a blink, for a young child to wander off.

When a 3-year-old from Qulin, Missouri, went missing after dark, it was undoubtedly sheer terror for everyone involved. Remy was last seen in her home on June 14 around 8 p.m.

When her family discovered the little girl was missing, they called 911. First responders and community members banded together to search for the missing child.

An air search was even conducted, but there was no trace of little Remy anywhere. Thankfully, the light of day brought new hope with it.

Volunteers assisted as officials searched a nearby cornfield in the early hours of the morning. When they heard the bark of a small, but brave, dog, they knew they’d found something important.

Apparently, the family’s Yorkshire Terrier, Fat Heath, remained by Remy’s side throughout the night. While she was certainly scared and lonely, it’s comforting to know she didn’t have to face the ordeal completely alone.

It is not known at this time why Remy wandered off. We do know that when she was found, she was cold and covered in mosquito bites.

But the good news is that’s the worst of it. She’s now safe and sound at home, and the family is relieved.

Remy was taken to the Black River Medical Center in Poplar Bluff following her rescue. She and her faithful canine are still recovering from their night in the dark.

What’s perhaps most amazing about this story is that the dog didn’t leave her side. I am sure he’s seen as a hero in the eyes of the Elliot family.

This incident could have ended sadly. But, thanks to first responders, community members, and one loyal pup, Remy’s story has a happy ending after all.
