Police Rip Open Nailed-Shut Attic Crawl Space, Find Missing 6-Year-Old Locked Inside
Missing children are a sad reality. It’s heartbreaking to hear these stories, which makes the times those children come home all the more joyous.
A 6-year-old boy from Camden County, Missouri, who was reported an endangered child in October 2018 was finally found by police.
Braedence Jones had been missing since August 2018 when his mother, Aubrey Ferguson, did not return the boy to his father, Ryan Jones.
Ryan has court-ordered custody of the child, according to Lake Expo. The search for his son has been ongoing since the day he was not returned.
The “Help Bring Braedence Home” Facebook page was created to help the family get the word out about the 6-year-old’s disappearance.
Braedence was found on Jan. 8, 2019, following a tip from the U.S. Marshals Service Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force, KTVI reported.
Authorities discovered him in an attic crawlspace inside a Laclede County home, approximately 30 or so miles from Camden County.
The crawlspace was nailed shut and the boy’s mother was hiding in the crawlspace with him when he was found, according to KTVI.
The reason the child was considered endangered is that there is a court order for Ferguson’s boyfriend and felon, Woodrow Ziegler, not to be near Braedence.
Ryan and his girlfriend, Breanne Dominguez, have since been reunited with the child. Dominguez posted a heartfelt thanks to all who helped on Facebook.
“Our little boy is home! God is so good! Thank you all for the prayers, shared, phone calls and etc. we don’t know how to thank everyone enough. Our hearts are so full of joy atm,” she wrote. “Just thank you everyone.”
Ferguson was put in police custody and held on several warrants and charges. As for Braedence and his family, they are happy to be together again.
“We also want to thank every officer that has helped on the way and looked for him,” Dominguez wrote in a separate post. “Thank you all for bringing him home, you all will forever be in our hearts.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up for them to help with costs that have accrued since Braedence’s disappearance.
He and his family have a road of recovery ahead of them. But, as Dominguez noted, “God is so good,” and we are so thankful for that.
