Pregnant Jessa Duggar Rolls Up Her Sleeves To Give Home a 'Minimalist' Makeover on a Budget

Share

Doing a home makeover can seem like a fun but overwhelming task. From new paint to fresh furniture and accents, there’s a lot to do when it comes to changing up your space.

But sometimes moms get that sudden spurt of energy and motivation. And pregnant moms? When they want to “nest” there’s no stopping them!

For pregnant Jessa Seewald of the famous Duggar family, sprucing up her most loved living spaces came at the spur of the moment.

“Here’s a little glimpse into a Seewald home project that was completed recently,” she wrote on Instagram. “Decided on a whim that I wanted to become more of a minimalist.”

The mom-of-two-going-on-three showed photos of her living room with green walls, darker furniture and a coffee table at the center of the space.

As you can see, the space is a bit crowded and cramped, especially for two little ones running around all day long.

“It was 7pm, and Ben was going to be in a meeting for the next few hours,” Seewald explained. “So I loaded up the boys and headed to Lowe’s.”

The “Counting On” star grabbed some lighter color, one-coat paint and supplies and started on the project immediately.

Not only did the lighter color paint freshen up the space, it definitely makes the room look much larger. Take away that center table and add a rug and suddenly it’s a whole new room!

Seewald was excited to sell the excess tables on Facebook Marketplace, making the minimalist project even more budget-friendly.

She took the cash and was able to purchase the rug and some discount plants from Hobby Lobby (best store ever!).

While her kids’ space in the corner is the same for now, Seewald certainly opened up the room and made it look brand new!

“It may not be HGTV worthy, but it’s the hub of our home and we feel like it’s a massive transformation!” she wrote.

Seewald also took to the master bedroom with her minimalist ways, got rid of the bed frame and added some new accents.

Another project we completed recently was our master bedroom minimalist makeover! ☺️ The walls were a dark grey, so I started out by painting them the same as the living room— Revere Pewter (Benjamin Moore). Really brightened up the room and made it feel bigger! Then we decided to sell our chunky bed frame, nightstands and lamps on fb marketplace as well! We didn’t really use the nightstands when we were in bed, and they were just becoming random junk collectors. Lol! Originally, we thought we would get a simpler headboard/frame to replace, but while we were talking it over, it was actually Ben who said “I kinda like the simplicity of having our bed on the floor like this.” I thought about it for a min, and decided I agreed! I realize this isn’t for everyone, but we do have a tall mattress and, with the box spring, our bed sits at about couch height. I LOVE IT. (Can we just pause for a moment and celebrate the fact that there’s no more dusting/cleaning/swiping toys, socks and other random items out from under the bed?! Yay!!! ???????) . We’ve found that we all pile into bed a lot more to read stories or snuggle. It’s easy for the two year old to climb up and down on his own, and if a little monkey accidentally falls out of bed it’s not likely to be an incident to call the doctor over. ?? . We brought the rug, which used to be in our living room, to the foot of our bed, and we keep the boys train set in here now. Spurgeon loves creating big tracks, but little bro is pretty good at ripping them up. ☺️ Now we can shut the door so big bro can have 15 min chunks of uninterrupted time to build and be creative. The print on the wall of Ben and I is one from our honeymoon! I did a 24×36 poster print from Sam’s club, which was like $13. Then I found a poster frame in that size from Bed Bath and Beyond! The other framed piece above the changing table is a sketch we had done on our honeymoon. ? The changing table used to be black with black knobs, so I found some inspiration on Pinterest for a revamp! The paint color is Valspar Cliveden Forest, and the gold bar pulls I found on Amazon. Loving the simplicity of our new master bedroom! ☺️?
