Prince Charles' Speech at Wedding Reception Proves How Happy He Is for Harry & Meghan

Share

The internet is abuzz following the wedding of the year. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have tied the knot at last.

If you’ve followed the spotlighted couple for any length of time, no doubt you’ve heard speculation that their match was not entirely supported by family and friends.

But, after watching the royal affair, one can’t deny the love and adoration they have for each other — who wouldn’t be happy for them?

The Prince of Wales walked the bride down the aisle, a last-minute alteration made when Meghan’s father announced that he would no longer be able to attend. The two exchanged smiles as the guests looked on with joy on their faces and tears in their eyes.

The ceremony was heartfelt. But perhaps even more touching was what came later in the day, during the reception.

Prince Charles gave quite the speech, apparently. While the St. George’s Hall reception wasn’t public, some guests have revealed tidbits of the prince’s words and sentiments.

“Charles gave a brilliant speech,” a guest commented in an interview. “Harry was very emotional.”

The speech included an anecdote about “changing Harry’s nappy” as a baby. Sir Elton John was even invited to join in.

According to guests, the musician sat at the piano and played a medley of some of his most popular songs. (And, yes, “Tiny Dancer” was among them.)

Reported as “off the cuff,” the speech the Prince of Wales gave is said to have left everyone misty-eyed.

He even ended with an endearment, calling his newlywed son “my darling old Harry” and expressing how happy he was for the pair.

If there was any doubt before, how can there be any now? Prince Charles definitely appears to be thrilled for the royal match.

It was certainly a moment the late Princess Diana would have been proud to watch.

Congratulations, Harry and Meghan, and best wishes for many years to come.
