Royal Family Fans: Adorable Animated Movie Coming Out About Queen Elizabeth's Love of Corgis
Who doesn’t love a good animated film? From “Smallfoot” to “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” it seems there is a slew of animated films headed our way as we charge into 2019.
Most movie buffs already have their eyes on upcoming release dates. Though “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” doesn’t release until March of next year, I’m already counting down the days until Hiccup and Toothless ride again.
Everyone has a thing. For some, it’s video game pop culture. For others, it might be dragon legends and lore.
Then there are those who follow the royal family as if they are a duke or duchess themselves. They tune in from the Pacific Coast at unspeakable hours to watch a wedding or gush over the announcement of a new heir.

They know the full and proper names of every prince or princess, their birth dates, and who is first — and last — in line for the throne.
If this sounds like you, you’re in for a royal treat. Coming to theaters in 2019 is a film full of so much fun and mischief, even the little princes and princess in the Kensington Palace will squeal with delight.
Anyone familiar with the royal family knows the queen’s love for corgis. In April, People magazine reported Queen Elizabeth’s “last” corgi passed away at age 14.
Willow was significant because she came from a long line of the breed that started with the queen’s first corgi, Susan.
Susan the corgi was a gift to Queen Elizabeth from her parents. She was reportedly so attached to Susan that she snuck her on her honeymoon with Prince Philip! Susan’s first puppies, born the year after Prince Charles, were named Sugar & Honey.

Although this was a great loss, the article from People magazine confirmed the queen had already adopted another corgi named Whisper prior to Willow’s death.
Now an animated film from Lionsgate will pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth’s love for the breed. According to the film’s summary on IMDB, “The Queen’s Corgi” features “Rex, the British monarch’s most beloved dog.”
In the film, Rex “loses track of his mistress and stumbles across a clan with dogs of all kinds confronting and fighting each other. During his epic journey to return to the queen, Rex falls in love and discovers his true self.”
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet for this adorable animated feature, hang on to your feathered hat and get ready for an adventure of corgi-sized proportions.
I’ll definitely be taking my entire family to see this one. It looks like it has something for everyone, and I’ll bet we can expect some movie-themed stuffed animals to hit the shelves near the release.
IMDB doesn’t have a release date for the United States listed as of yet. For now, “The Queen’s Corgi” is set to premiere in the Netherlands in February followed by Portugal in April.
