Royal Update: Details of Prince Louis' Christening Have Been Released From Palace

Share

So far, 2018 has been filled with royal bliss. From the birth of a new prince in April to a wedding in May, the royal family is certainly inviting a lot of attention.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge seem to be doing well since the birth of their third child. Prince Louis Arthur Charles is just a couple of months old, but he’s already well on his way to being adored just like his brother and sister.

Born on April 23, Prince Louis was still too young when it came to attending his uncle, Prince Harry’s, wedding.

Now that the infant is older, however, the time has come for him to participate in his own special ceremony.

LONDON, ENGLAND - APRIL 23: Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge depart the Lindo Wing with their new born son Prince Louis of Cambridge at St Mary's Hospital on April 23, 2018 in London, England. The Duchess safely delivered a boy at 11:01 am, weighing 8lbs 7oz, who will be fifth in line to the throne.

Duchess Kate had complications during all three pregnancies, with horrible morning sickness at the top of the misery list. But the family has since adjusted to life with five in the house, which means they’re well on their way to doing what royals do best.

Following tradition, a tweet from Kensington Palace has confirmed that Prince Louis’s christening will take place very soon.

The date is set for Monday, July 9, which also happens to be the date when his great-grandparents announced their royal engagement decades ago in 1947.

Though it is not known if Princess Elizabeth’s engagement to Prince Philip held any significance when it came to the date chosen for the christening, we do know a few other details about the little prince’s day in the spotlight. And we’re so excited!

The Archbishop of Canterbury will be performing the ceremony. The Most Reverend Justin Welby also christened Louis’ older siblings and presided over Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s wedding, so it’s no surprise he’d be chosen for this event as well.

The baptism will take place at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, London. This will make Prince Louis’ place in the Church of England official, acting as his initiation just as it did for those who came before him.

When it comes to doing everything in style, the royal family knows how to go all out. Both Princess Charlotte and Prince George had portraits taken following their christening ceremonies, so we expect it will be no different for their baby brother.

Until the special day arrives, however, we don’t know for certain if Prince Louis will also wear a replica of the gown others have worn for generations before him.

But, since we do know the royal family loves following tradition, our guess he will is pretty good indeed.
