Steve Harvey: 'The God I Serve Didn't Bring Me This Far To Leave Me'

Share

Someone once said, “When the Lord closes a door, somewhere he opens a window.” You might have heard this quote before, with or without God as a part of it.

It’s been used more than once by plenty of people. For today, we’ll stick with the “Sound of Music” version spoken by Julie Andrews.

Whoever said this first, one thing is certain — though this isn’t a Bible verse, the idea holds true for people with faith.

Disappointments happen in this life. Doors close and opportunities fall through. We don’t get the job, the house or the whatever it is.

Many with faith believe that these lost dreams are really God’s way of saying there’s something better, you just have to have a little patience and trust.

Talk show host and television staple Steve Harvey understands this concept and lives it out through his own words.

Although his daytime talk show “Steve” (formerly “Steve Harvey”) has aired on NBC for seven years, it looks like the show is in its final season, according to Deadline.

Are you inspired by Steve Harvey's faith?

Harvey told Variety that he was disappointed with the way the network went about things regarding his show being replaced with “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

Even so, he hasn’t let the news steal his joy and faith in the One who is bigger than daytime TV. In an Instagram post, Harvey shared a video that got a lot of people talking.

“They gon’ close the door on me in 2019,” he begins. “All that means for me is God has another door for me to open.”

He goes on to share some heartfelt and inspiring words that make us love this man even more. Watch as he reminds us that a closed door doesn’t mean the end.

“I’ve learned to accept God’s will and understand that everything that happens to me, happens to me for my good and my betterment,” he says. “Because the God I serve didn’t bring me this far to leave me.”

Amen and amen. We love his positive and faith-filled outlook. His question at the end is the most thought-provoking of all: “Why would God lift you to the height that he got you, just to see you fall? That’s not the God we serve.”
