Terminal Mom Spent Last Days Trying To Help Son Meet Sports Hero, After Her Death They Finally Meet

Share

Every mom wants to see her children’s dreams fulfilled. Unfortunately, not all moms live long enough to see those dreams come to fruition.

Young Anderson is a huge hockey fan. His favorite team is none other than the Montreal Canadiens. And one player in particular rises above the rest.

For those who aren’t familiar with the sport, the name Carey Price may not mean much. But this goalie means the world to Anderson.

Anderson’s mom did everything in her power to find a way for her son to meet the hockey star. Sadly, she had terminal cancer and passed away before getting a chance to see Anderson meet his idol.

But that didn’t stop some other souls from carrying out a dying mom’s wish. According to Anderson’s aunt, Tammy Whitehead, “some very kind and generous friends we were able to arrange a visit to the morning skate.”

In other words, though his mom was no longer able to see his dream come true, Anderson’s wish was still fulfilled, and that’s all his mom could have hoped for.

During the practice, Carey Price met with Anderson. Their interaction is priceless. “Carey Price was a class act,” Whitehead wrote.

“Not only giving Anderson two signed sticks, a signed puck, signing his jersey and mini stick but he also gave him the biggest hug,” she went on.

“Words cannot describe how much this meant to Anderson and we are forever grateful to this wonderful man.”

This is both a heartbreaking and heartwarming story. This boy has lost so much, but even so, his favorite athlete was able to act as a light in the darkness.

The NHL even tweeted about the encounter, saying, “This is everything — this young fan, Anderson, met his idol… after his mother passed away due to cancer… This right here is hockey.”

I’ve never had much of an interest in hockey before, but I might consider converting now. This player is a gem!

We are so glad Anderson’s wish finally came true. Our thoughts are with him and his family during this difficult time.
