Voices of Hope Children's Choir Take 'AGT' Stage by Storm, Earn Coveted Golden Buzzer
Summer is the season of talent. It seems like every evening brings with it a different variety of performers and entertainers.
From Fox’s new “The Four: The Battle for Stardom” to NBC’s second go around with “World of Dance,” there’s no shortage of incredible, prime-time talent.
But newer isn’t always better. With “America’s Got Talent” now in it’s 13th season, the acts are only getting more daring, more surprising and maybe even a bit more emotional.
While season 12 was, in this humble writer’s opinion, hard to beat with acts like ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer and soulful robot dancer Merrick Hanna, season 13 definitely has more than a few acts worth voting for.
Anyone who watches the show religiously knows the coveted golden buzzer is the one to win, too.
The golden buzzer not only showers its winner with gold confetti, but it sends auditioning hopefuls straight through to the live shows.
Each episode has viewers on the edge of their seats, wondering which performance will take home the night’s golden trophy.
During the Judge Cuts episodes, performers are expected to “bring it.” They made it through the first audition, but the second round is even more competitive.
In June, we were introduced to the Voices of Hope Children’s Choir. Directed by Sarah Grandpré, this group of amazing kids knows how to put on a show.
For their original audition, the choir sang “This is Me,” probably the most well-known song from “The Greatest Showman.”
Though the group made it past the judges with Heidi Klum loving every minute, Mel B suggested they up their game, Howie was on the fence and Simon hinted that they needed to rehearse more.
So when the choir returned for the first Judge Cuts episode of the season, everyone wondered if they would top their last performance.
Grandpré and her kiddos did not disappoint. They came back fighting, performing “How Far I’ll Go” from Disney’s “Moana.”
Watch as they nail every note. The soloists are spot on. This powerful performance is one the audience and judges won’t soon forget.
Mel B even got teary-eyed. The group earned the standing ovation they received. Special guest judge Ken Jeong had the chance to golden buzzer one act straight to the live shows.
Is it any surprise he chose Voices of Hope? The hugs and happy tears spread around are enough to give anyone goosebumps.
“I could not be more proud,” Grandpré shared on Facebook following their triumph. “I love these children beyond what I ever thought possible, and this night was an absolute miracle for all of us.”
Voices of Hope is a non-profit organization founded in 2015. Children ages 5-17 have the opportunity to sing their hearts out at no cost to them.
What an inspiring and talented bunch of kids. They’ll definitely be the group to watch during the live shows this summer.
