Young Woman Survives Horrific 450-Foot Drop After Driving Her Car Off a Cliff

Share

A miracle has taken place in Napa County, California, after a bicyclist ended up being in the right place at the right time.

The scene was like something from a movie. No one ever expects to witness a horrific event like a car going over a cliff.

But that’s exactly what Charles Doyle saw when he was riding his bike along the very curvy Monticello Road in the middle of the morning on May 21.

Doyle described the incident in detail to KRON 4, explaining that the driver appeared to be making a U-turn before she went over the side of the cliff near Dukes Curve.

“It was very strange,” Doyle told the news outlet. “I had the feeling after it went over like ‘did I actually just see that?'”

“We could hear her screaming,” he continued. “I couldn’t understand anything she said but we knew she was alive.”

Doyle called 911 right away and emergency responders were on the scene within 10 minutes.

The driver in the vehicle — 20-year-old Karla Hernandez-Zambrano — had amazingly survived the 450-foot plunge into the woods.

According to California Highway Patrol, it’s a miracle someone witnessed the accident.

“Without the bicyclist observing the vehicle, it’s unknown how long it would’ve taken for her to be found in the heavily wooded area,” CHP – Golden Gate Division Air Operations wrote on Facebook.

Hernandez-Zambrano was rescued and airlifted to Queen of the Valley Hospital and is reportedly in “stable condition.”

“We lifted her vertically to the helicopter through a four to six foot hole through the trees,” an officer told KRON 4. “The margin for error was very small.”

This is a true miracle and certainly not something you see every day. There is no question that Charles Doyle played a significant part in this rescue.
