Libs Would Freak If Trump Had Guards Boot a Reporter Like de Blasio Just Did
The latest narrative pushed by the liberal media is that President Donald Trump is engaged in an anti-American “war against the free press,” deliberately obfuscating the president’s pushback against the biased and untruthful “fake news media” — which he has labeled an “enemy of the people” — as being an attack on all media across the board.
The anti-Trump media has pointed to Trump’s many tweets about “fake news,” hyperventilated at liberal reporters being yelled at by Trump rally-goers and totally lost it when a CNN reporter was temporarily barred from a White House event after she picked an “inappropriate” time and place to shout off-topic questions.
But, strangely, the liberal media stays largely silent when a prominent Democrat does virtually the same thing, if not worse, as is now apparent in the most recent display of hypocritical double-standards these days.
The Washington Free Beacon reported that a journalist for the New York Post was physically removed and escorted away by two New York Police Department bodyguards assigned to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio when the reporter dared asked the mayor a pointed question about a developing scandal.
Both bodyguards escorted the reporter about a half-block away, where a member of the NYPD’s office told him, “Come on, Kevin. No stunts today” https://t.co/OviToNQrWT

The incident, which occurred after a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the start of the annual Dominican Day Parade, came just days after de Blasio had smeared the Post as a “right-wing rag” during a CNN appearance.
In that appearance de Blasio had also smeared the Post’s parent company — News Corp, which also owns Fox News and the Wall Street Journal — and suggested that all of those media outlets should be shut down, as he viewed them as being detrimental to the country.
Hilariously, and in quite a contradiction of himself, the mayor also proclaimed, “I believe in a free, strong media with diverse views — I’ll defend it with all I’ve got,” while at the same time calling for right-leaning media outlets to be silenced and shuttered.
New York Post reporter Kevin Sheehan wrote about what happened to him and explained that he had simply approached the mayor to ask him about reports which indicated that de Blasio’s administration had held some 136 meetings with lobbyists in just a short three-month span.
Rather than receive any response, Sheehan reported that de Blasio merely looked on as his two bodyguards ignored his NYPD-issued media credentials and forcefully led him away with a hand on his shoulder, which one allegedly stating, “Kevin, you have to leave. You can’t be here.”
Sheehan related how he was escorted by the bodyguards about a half-block away where he was confronted by NYPD Public Information Officer Brian Magoolaghan, who is alleged to have told him, “Come on, Kevin. No stunts today.”
De Blasio’s office was contacted following the incident for an explanation, but they merely deferred all questions to the NYPD.
For their part, an emailed statement from the NYPD simply declared, “The Department takes appropriate and necessary measures to protect dignitaries, including the Mayor of the City of New York.”
In this case, it would appear that the NYPD bodyguards decided it was “appropriate and necessary” to use physical force to protect the mayor from a reporter asking pointed questions that might make him look bad.
Now imagine for a moment that one of Trump’s bodyguards — either Secret Service or one of his private contractor security guards — physically removed a CNN reporter from near the president for simply asking a question, and that Trump had specifically called for CNN to be shut down (which he hasn’t done).
We can surmise fairly well the sort of media firestorm that would erupt from the liberal pearl-clutchers issuing self-righteous thinkpieces on the tragedy for this nation of a powerful politician using his position to silence members of the free media working to hold him accountable, mostly because we’ve already seen all of that play out before for lesser actions against the media by Trump as compared to this action by Mayor de Blasio.
