Police are investigating the discovery of a dead body at the home of New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins.

The body was found Tuesday morning in Jenkins’ home in Fair Lawn, New Jersey.

Jenkins was not home when the body was discovered. The Giants believe he has been in Florida since the team’s minicamp ended two weeks ago, NorthJersey.com reported.

The Bergen County major crimes unit was investigating the scene, TMZ Sports reported.

The deceased was identified as Roosevelt Rene, 25, a family friend of Jenkins’. Rene was an aspiring hip-hop artist and music producer who went by the name of Trypps Beatz.

A worker at the house is the one who came upon the body in the basement. Police showed up a short time later, and then the coroner arrived to confirm the death.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fair Lawn police are investigating Rene’s death.

“The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be provided when it is available and appropriate for release,” said Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo said Tuesday.

Jenkins had some legal problems while in college, including multiple arrests that led to his dismissal from the Florida Gators football team.

But he has stayed out of trouble, for the most part, since joining the NFL in 2012, and one New Jersey neighbor described him as “the perfect neighbor.”

“The poor guy’s not even here to speak for himself,” Patti Golick said. “So we’re just trying to show him a little support as his neighbors. We’re here for him.

“We have no complaints. He’s a good guy. The interactions we’ve had with him, just nice, decent. He’s a perfect neighbor. He’s a perfect neighbor and you couldn’t ask for anybody better. He’s just quiet.”

This is the second time in two weeks that someone has died at a current or former NFL player’s house.

In mid-June, a 23-year-old security guard was shot and killed at an Atlanta mansion owned by former Pro Bowler Eddie Drummond.

Unlike Jenkins’ case, neighbors weren’t as complimentary about Drummond after the body was found.

“It’s no surprise, we’ve been expecting it for upwards to two years now,” neighbor Steven Lawrence told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “It was a matter of time before somebody got shot over there.”
