Meghan Markle Had Hidden Blue Ribbon That Belonged to Princess Diana Sewn into Dress
Just as expected, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding captivated audiences around the world. No matter where you were, the chances that the royal wedding was playing on TV were high.
And also as expected, the wedding was nothing short of beautiful. With everything planned to perfection, the day was truly a dream.
One of the most heartwarming aspects of the day was just how dedicated the bride and groom were to making the day their own while also including those closest to their hearts.
By inviting members of the community to take part in the day to asking for gifts in the form of donations to charity, the event was truly inspirational.
The newlyweds also added several special touches to the event in honor of Harry’s mother and Markle’s mother-in-law Princess Diana.
Whether you were there or not, it was easy to see Diana in many different aspects of the day. With everything from the flowers in Markle’s bouquet, to aerial photographs, to the bride’s post-wedding jewelry, Diana’s presence was felt by all.
But a lesser known detail of the day and tribute to the late Princess Diana was a little something borrowed and blue sewn into the now-Duchess of Sussex’s dress.
Previous reports speculated that Markle’s “something blue” was the aquamarine ring she wore on her way to the wedding reception. However, CNN’s Alisyn Camerota, who attended the wedding, explained that it was instead a hidden blue ribbon.
“There were all these different little symbols of [Diana],” she said. “They had a blue ribbon that Diana had also worn sewn into the inside of Megan’s dress, as it had been to Kate’s so that each bride was carrying a little piece of Princess Diana with her down the aisle.”
Of course, since their November engagement, the couple has made it clear that they know Diana is always with them, and they make sure to take every chance they can to remember that.
When speaking about the engagement ring, Harry explained how he’d chosen the design for his then-fiancée’s ring.
“…the little diamonds on the sides are from my mother’s personal jewelry collection, to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together,” he said.
“It’s days like today I really miss having her around and miss being able to share the happy news,” he added. “But you know with the ring and with everything else that’s going on I’m sure she’s … “
” … she’s with us,” Markle said.
“I’m sure she’s with us,” Harry finished.
And just when we thought the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were finished, another touching tribute to Diana has us in tears again.
