First lady Melania Trump and second lady Karen Pence took a break from supporting citizens affected by Hurricane Harvey with a quick stop at a popular Texas fast food chain for lunch.
Trump and Pence were accompanied by Cecilia Abbott, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s wife, to Corpus Christi’s Whataburger.
The chain restaurant opened its first location in Corpus Christi in 1950, but has grown to over 820 locations — most of them in Texas.

Stephanie Grisham, Trump’s director of communications, tweeted a picture of the women ordering lunch.
Their visit to the popular restaurant chain caught the attention of Whataburger, who tweeted their approval of the first and second lady’s choice for lunch and thanked the women for stopping by.
Journalist Eleanor Dearman also showed off her fries from Whataburger that were provided to her by way of the first and second lady.
“Important update: @FLOTUS and @SecondLady got fries for the media pool. #MelaniaInTX,” Dearman wrote.
Secret Service guarded the door as the women enjoyed lunch, and the media had to wait outside, the U.K. Daily Mail reported.
However, not everyone was pleased to see Trump and Pence stop at Whataburger.
“WOW I can’t believe whataburger would betray us this way,” one disgruntled Twitter user wrote.
Before their lunch stop, the first and second lady spent time in Texas checking on the relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey.
Pence and Trump traveled first to Corpus Christi for a meet-and-greet with the hurricane’s first responders. They then traveled to Rockport to meet with a family that was left homeless by the storm, and concluded their trip by meeting with students and teachers at a local elementary school.
“Our hearts are encouraged by the people of Texas and their continued enthusiasm to help each other pick up the pieces and rebuild after Hurricane Harvey,” Pence said in a statement reported by CBN.
