Miley Cyrus recently took issue with the Old Testament and the story of Noah’s Ark, saying: “We’ve outgrown that fairy tale, like we’ve outgrown f–king Santa and the Tooth Fairy.”
Cyrus came from a religious background, at one point citing the church as her “greatest source of strength.” However, it appears that while Cyrus has moved away from the church, she has still become a force to be reckoned with. She clearly has her own opinions about politics.
Cyrus stated that Christian conservatives who hold to a traditional definition of marriage should not be permitted to make laws in the United States. She also has a disdain for lawmakers who fall on the fundamentalist side. This is quite a turn from her days on Hannah Montana, when she dressed modestly and wore a promise ring vowing to abstain from sex until marriage–all in an effort to be a positive role model for kids.

She gave her parents accolades throughout her recent interview with Paper Magazine. She stated that she did not agree with their politics, though. Cyrus holds contempt for politicians who hold negative views pertaining to “potentially life-saving changes [for the LGBT] community.”
It seems that Cyrus, raised as a Christian, has moved away from her conservative upbringing to a more liberal, free love type of lifestyle. While her views on several issues seem to ruffle a lot of feathers, she does not seem to mind. She continues doing the things she thinks are OK.
One thing she is passionate about is a foundation created to help people from the LGBT community who are young and homeless. She created the “Happy Hippie Foundation” in an attempt to raise money and awareness for a cause dear to her heart. In the interview, she said: “We can’t keep noticing these kids too late.”
