Mom and Two Kids Too Scared to Answer Door. She Checks Security Cam & Sees Teenage Boy

Children are warned to not open the door for strangers when they are home. Melissa Vang is an adult but also follows this rule.

Plenty of stories would support her caution. There have been many unfortunate instances where people with bad intentions knock on the doors of strangers’ homes hoping to use various tactics to commit their intended crime.

Vang was home with her two young children when she heard someone knocking. She was hesitant to answer so she purposely ignored it.

Her home has a security camera at the front door. She knew she could check the camera after the stranger left to get an idea of who was at the door.

The footage surprisingly touched her heart. The stranger was a teenager who was certainly not looking to get into trouble.

Rather, the teen, Tyler Opdyke, showed great integrity and thoughtfulness. He searched for the security camera, actually happy to see its presence.

Opdyke waved a valuable object at the camera, which turned out to be a familiar item. Apparently, Vang’s husband dropped his wallet on the driveway while getting into his car.

The teen was in the neighborhood distributing flyers for his uncle’s pest control business. He saw a wallet filled with $1,500 cash along with credit cards.

Vang’s husband had such a large sum in his wallet because family members had given him cash that he was collecting for an event.

Opdyke knocked on the door to return the wallet.

He heard Vang’s children in the home, but nobody answered. That is when he decided to wave the wallet at the camera before putting it down on the front door mat.

Opdyke told KXTV, “I’ve been raised in the Church all my life and I just felt this is not mine.”

Vang was able to meet up with Opdyke to thank him and even reward him “for his kind gesture.”
