Grieving Mother Shares Emotionally Raw Post After Husband & Baby Killed by Drunk Driver

Share

The grief of losing a child is too much to bear for any mother. Losing a husband in the same accident is devastating beyond words.

Jessica Lybrand is feeling this loss after a drunk driver hit and killed her baby, Elliana, and husband, Zachary Lybrand.

The day started like any other for Lybrand, but with a little bit of a twist. It was her birthday and she was finally turning 21.

Planning a little bit of a celebration, Lybrand had made plans for Elliana to go to her grandmother’s house for the night; it would be the first night away from her baby since birth.

With two designated drivers on standby, Lybrand was just finishing her preparations for the day when she couldn’t reach her husband who had gone to drop Elliana off. The next moment would change Lybrand’s life forever.

Zachary and Elliana were hit by a drunk driver. The driver, Jack Satterfield, 29, was driving a tractor-trailer under the influence and killed Lybrand’s family on impact, Fox 43 reported.

The two were not only impacted by the crash, but the car burst into flames burning Zachary and Elliana beyond recognition. Zachary was 24 and Elliana was only 16 months old. Ethan Van Bochoven was also killed in the accident.

The Mississippi accident broke the heart of Lybrand as she wrote an emotionally charged post on Facebook.

“I don’t know how to even begin to explain how badly I want to hold my babies but I can’t,” she wrote.

“They are in pieces, down to the bone with nothing left to hold. I just want them back. I still don’t think this is real.

“They are suppose (sic) to come home. Go out to my birthday dinner. Instead I have to somehow get the courage to bury my babies and make so many heart breaking decisions RIGHT NOW,” Lybrand continued.

In her post, she also warned others about the dangers of drunk driving.

“Share my babies stories, LET THEM BE A REASON THAT PEOPLE MIGHT CONSIDER JUST A LITTLE MORE,” Lybrand wrote.

“TAKE A SECOND AND THINK TWICE. JUST DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE. EVEN IF ITS JUST ONE LIFE, HONOR THEIR LEGACY AND DON’T PUT INNOCENT LIVES IN DANGER.”

Lybrand has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral costs. “I want them remembered for their undeniably beautiful smiles and souls. I will never be blessed again with someone so special. No words will ever be enough.”

Our hearts go out to Lybrand and her family, as well as the other families impacted by this terrible accident.
