When Arkansas resident Lory Beth Snyder took her infant daughter to the hospital to be treated for allergies, she never imagined the horror she would face.
According to her Facebook post, Snyder was with her daughter at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark., when she decided to take a nap, believing her daughter would be safe.
Upon awakening, she realized that 4-month-old Lorelai was not in the room.

Anxious to find out what happened to her baby, Snyder began searching the hospital.
She found the child in the room of another female patient who was holding Lorelai in her arms.

Snyder said there were also several nurses in the room “just laughing and playing with her and Lorelai.”
No one seemed concerned that Snyder woke from her nap to find her child missing.
The patient said she was looking after the child while the mother rested.
Snyder didn’t know the intentions behind what the woman did, but told her, “You do not enter a room and take a child that does not belong to you, especially from a person you don’t know.”
After taking her child from the patient, Snyder returned to her daughter’s room, followed by the nurses and the patient.

Snyder said the nurses assured her that Lorelai had never been in danger, that they knew the woman and were confident she meant no harm.
Snyder went on to say that along with being frightened at finding her daughter missing, she was concerned about the condition of the woman who had taken her.
“I don’t know what she herself was ill with,” Snyder said, “Something that could make my daughter sick. I don’t know anything! I don’t know what her actual intent with my child was. What she did with her. Or even how long she actually had her.”
Following the safe return of Lorelai, Snyder reported the incident to the Jonesboro Police Department, which conducted an investigation.

Based on the investigation, the police told Snyder she could not press charges because the woman meant no harm to the child.
Brad Parsons, CEO of the hospital made a statement saying, “We are working with our risk-management department as well as the Jonesboro police on that investigation.”
The hospital issued the following statement: “An incident occurred in one of our patient care units (not labor and delivery) on Friday involving two patients, one of them a pediatric patient. While we cannot go into details because of patient privacy laws, two of our nurses acted immediately, followed all protocols, and rapidly brought the situation under control. Because of their quick work, all patients remained safe. Our nurses quickly secured the pediatric patient and mother and fully cooperated with police, who declined to take action against anyone. We are grateful that everyone is safe, and we wish everyone the best and continued good health.”
