NBA player takes frustrations out on fan's phone after ejection
Utah Jazz reserve swing man Rodney Hood got bounced from Wednesday night’s game against the Wizards, and let’s just say he didn’t handle his exit well.
Apparently upset that he didn’t get a foul call on a drive to the hoop, he was jawing with the official on the way back up the floor.
Evidently, Hood said one of the magic words and that was it — he was hit with a technical for the second time in the game. His first came in the first quarter, also for arguing with the refs.
As walked off the court, it seems he took exception to a fan recording his exit on a cellphone.
Hood knocked the phone out of the man’s hand.
Afterward, the man whose phone he smacked reportedly asked that legal action be taken against Hood.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported that the man “spoke with Capital One Center security and Jazz security officials for much of the fourth quarter, pressing for police action.”
The fan who had his phone knocked away by Rodney Hood was having a long conversation with some security staff, including Jazz head of security.

The Tribune added, however, that “police are unlikely to go after Hood for the interaction.”
He might not face charges, but the former Duke Blue Devil can expect some hefty fines.
Players are fined $2,000 for technical fouls, and negative interactions with fans usually bring much higher financial penalties.

The Celtics’ Kyrie Irving, the Pelicans’ DeMarcus Cousins and the Clippers’ Austin Rivers have been hit with $25,000 fines this year for using profanities against fans.
Utah rallied to beat the Wizards without Hood 107-104.
Ricky Rubio had 21 points to lead the Jazz.
