In his new book “Secrets of the Secret Service: The History and Uncertain Future of the US Secret Service,” Gary Byrne, a former Secret Service agent, wrote that the agency was nearly undone by serving Bill and Hillary Clinton with “blind loyalty.”
According to Byrne, the Secret Service was forced to undermine itself because the Clintons were “systematically destroying” their protection rules.
Byrne has been in federal law enforcement for nearly 30 years in the Air Force Security Police, and then the Uniformed Division of the Secret Service where he guarded the Clintons, according to the U.K. Daily Mail.

His book reveals that the agency is in crisis and could be a danger to President Donald Trump, but the problems started back in the 1990s with the Clintons.
“How can a law enforcement agency maintain its integrity, say in policing counterfeiting, while admittedly having compromised integrity in the area of protection?” Byrne wrote, according to Daily Mail.

Due to its responsibility for investigating money counterfeiting, the agency kept itself out of the Whitewater controversy involving the Clintons’ failed business investments.
But they couldn’t stay out of Chinagate, the 1996 campaign finance controversy which was an alleged effort for China to influence American politics during the Clinton administration.

The Secret Service “knowingly allowed Chinese generals, disguised in civilian clothing, to meet administration personnel at the White House and logged them as ‘business guests’ at the administration’s request so as to avoid transparency,” Byrne wrote.
The agency also didn’t check the contents of the paper bags that were brought into those meetings.
In his previous book, “Crisis of Character,” Byrne claimed that the former Secretary of State was so demanding that many agents turned to drugs and alcohol.
He also wrote that Hillary gave Bill a black eye during a fight.

Since then, the Secret Service has had its own series of scandals.
In 2012, 12 agents reportedly brought prostitutes back to the hotel in Cartegena, Colombia, where former President Barack Obama was going to stay during his official visit there.
In a separate incident, an intruder roamed the White House grounds for 15 minutes as the alarms were going off last year because the Secret Service were unable to locate him.
Top special agent Kerry O’Grady commented on Facebook in January that she would not take “a bullet” for President Trump.

Although O’Grady was removed from her position, The Washington Free Beacon reported that further disciplinary actions have not been taken.
