NFL player shown in video crying and screaming in pain during DUI arrest
In January, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane was arrested for speeding and admitted to smoking marijuana.
He was subsequently charged with DUI and released by the Seahawks.
All of that seems relatively normal when it comes to an arrest of an NFL player, but what isn’t normal is what popped up on the police cam video of the arrest.
TMZ Sports obtained video of the arrest, and while it started off relatively standard, things took a turn when Lane was placed in handcuffs. While sitting in the police cruiser and cuffed behind the back, Lane began screaming in pain as he said the cuffs were too tight and were cutting off his circulation.
While the officer was asking Lane if he understood his rights, he yelled, “I can’t feel my fingers, man!”
Lane then said to the officer, “You made them tighter, sir. Can you at least release the seat belt so I can turn this way just a little bit? I think that’s what’s making them bad.”
He then let out a shriek and said, “It hurts so bad I can’t feel my fingers!”
The video then jumps ahead with Lane questioning how a DUI works when the substance ingested is marijuana instead of alcohol. It ends with Lane saying, “This time I was more high than anything, than drunk. So how does that work out?”
Lane’s blood alcohol content was .039, which is about half of the Washington legal limit of .08. However, he admitted to smoking marijuana three hours earlier, and that’s what the officer immediately smelled when he pulled the cornerback over.
After being formally charged with a DUI in March, Lane pleaded guilty to an amended charge of reckless driving during his arraignment. He is scheduled to appear in court May 4 for sentencing on the reckless driving charge.
Going from a potential DUI charge to a reckless driving charge might help Lane avoid an NFL suspension, and he took to Twitter to give thanks for the lesser charge.

Lane spent his entire six-year career with the Seahawks and was a member of their Legion of Boom secondary. He mostly played nickelback, but he started 15 games over the last two seasons and has two interceptions in his career.
Lane saw his tenure in Seattle come to an end this offseason along with other Legion of Boom members Richard Sherman and DeShawn Shead.
But unlike those two, he has yet to find a new home. Sherman signed with the 49ers and Shead went to the Lions, but Lane is still on the market.
