Nordstrom Manager Shows Up at Hospital with Gifts for Mother and Sick Son

Share

When Kimberly Dankowski went to the hospital with her son, Levi, doctors told her that they would only be there for a few days.

It was not a planned visit. Levi was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance following an emergency, so Dankowski didn’t have time to grab any extra clothes or toiletries.

She asked her sweet husband to bring her some essentials and he gladly drove an hour to the hospital to do so. He was left in charge of the other four children while Dankowski stayed with little Levi.

After further tests, doctors told her some discouraging news: Levi needed to stay at the hospital indefinitely.

This meant that those few essentials would not be enough, but because Dankowski’s husband was at home with the other four kids he wouldn’t be able to come back.

“Asking him to bring me clothes right now is just not going to happen… plus he’d have to wash them first, because of course, I hadn’t done any laundry before our emergency,” she wrote. “And all I want to do is change my clothes.”

Looking out of their room window, Dankowski noticed a Nordstrom’s location that was extremely close to the hospital.

She found herself “day-dreaming” about their fashionably, clean clothes until the best idea popped into her head: call them.

She thought, “Maybe if I ordered some clothes, they might bring them to the hospital?! Or maybe they could throw them really hard and I could try and catch them.

She called and the store agreed.

Within hours, the store manager showed up to the hospital with ordered clothes in hand. She also included a note and a rose for Mother’s Day.

The card read, “Happy Mother’s day! We thought you could use a pick me up!”

Dankowski was overwhelmed with the thoughtfulness shown to her by the store employees. She turned to Instagram to express her gratitude.

“Nordstrom, you have the most kind-hearted and beautiful store manager at your Palo Alto store! She was my angel today,” she said. “Amy, THANK YOU for taking care of this tired and run down mama today… my heart is overflowing.”

If you think the story ends here, you’d be wrong. Because the team at the Palo Alto Nordstrom sent Levi a box full of toys and socks to uplift his spirits. Dankowski was completely shocked.

She updated her original post to include thank them once again, “Just the idea that your amazing Nordstrom family did this for our little man is unbelievable and so appreciated!!! Tears! So many tears!!!

“There are beautiful people in this big crazy world!! We are truly grateful for your kindness Nordstrom family! I don’t even have enough words to say thank you. Thank you, thank you!!”

The small acts of kindness shown by the team members at Nordstrom had a big impact on this mother and son’s hospital stay. When was the last time someone’s small act of kindness impacted you? Tell us in the comments.
