During a Monday night game against the Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton reportedly hit the fastest running speed of any NFL quarterback this season.
“Cam Newton hit 20.09 MPH on his 69-yard run, now the fastest speed on a carry for any QB this season,” NFL writer Matt Harmon tweeted.

Newton’s 69-yard scamper took place during the third quarter of the Panthers’ 45-21 win over the Dolphins.
After he was tackled, Newton celebrated while down on the ground before getting up.

When asked after the game why he didn’t celebrate more, Newton responded, “When you ain’t got no gas left, your check engine light is on … you just got to celebrate when you can celebrate.”
The 69-yard sprint was the second-longest run of Newton’s career.
His longest rush came against the Falcons in 2012, when he ran 72 yards for a touchdown.
Newton has now eclipsed 4,000 rushing yards for his career, becoming the fourth NFL quarterback to reach that milestone, according to AL.com.
“He’s pretty special,” Panthers tight end Ed Dickson said on CBS Sports Radio’s “Ferrall on the Bench.”

“When he runs the ball like that, when our offense runs the ball like that, it’s hard for any team to stop us. If he throws four touchdowns, we’re dang near unbeatable.”
The other NFL quarterbacks to hit the 4,000-yard mark are Randall Cunningham, Michael Vick and Steve Young.
The Panthers also achieved a new milestone as a team.
“Carolina ran for 294 yards as a team, marking the second consecutive game of more than 200 yards rushing for the first time in franchise history,” 247 Sports reported.

Newton himself ran for 95 yards, adding 254 additional yards through the air to go along with four passing touchdowns.
The 7-3 Panthers, who have now won three games in a row, are slated to play the Jets on Sunday, Nov. 26.
