Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Matchmaker, Who Set Them Up on Blind Date, Revealed
Since the world began to speculate that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were an item, we’ve all been wondering who set them up.
And now that the two are happily engaged to be married, the matchmaker has finally been revealed.
In 2016, Markle and Prince Harry were set up on a blind date. But since the set up, the pair have been hesitant to reveal the secret friend.
“We were introduced by a secret friend, who we will protect her privacy,” Harry said in their engagement interview.
But on Wednesday, a source close to the couple confirmed that Violet von Westenholz, the daughter of a baron and former Olympic skier Baron Piers von Westenholz, played cupid.
Violet, a PR director for Ralph Lauren, has known Prince Harry since childhood.
And after working with Markle through the brand, she knew she had to set the pair up.
Both Prince Harry and Markle were hesitant at first, but decided to go ahead with the date.
“I didn’t know much about him and so the only thing I had asked her when she said she wanted to set us up was, I had one question, I said “Was he nice?”‘ Markle said.
“I’d never, never even heard about her until this friend said ‘Meghan Markle'” Harry added. “I was like, ‘Right, okay? Give me a bit of background, what’s going on here?
“I had never watched Suits, I had never heard of Meghan before, and I was beautifully surprised when I walked into that room and saw her and there she was, sitting there.”
According to the source, Violet knew Harry was struggling to meet someone he could spend his life with.
“Harry was having a really hard time finding anyone,” the source said. “It’s hard enough finding someone new to date.
“He can hardly go on Tinder or a dating app like normal people, but to meet someone that you actually connect with, that was proving to be almost impossible.”
The Telegraph reported that Violet did not want to take all of the credit for pairing up the latest royal couple and gave credit to other mutual friends as well.
But no matter how the couple was set up, one thing is certain: We’ll all be watching their every move all they way up to their big day on May 19!
