'Real Indian' Senate Candidate Lambastes Warren After Being Attacked Outside Her Event

Share

An independent challenger to Sen. Elizabeth Warren is calling the Massachusetts lawmaker out for her failure to condemn an attack against him as he peaceably assembled outside a Warren rally, The Daily Caller reported.

Shiva Ayyadurai — an Indian-American who notes that he’s a “real Indian” — gave an interview to The Daily Caller, where he described having a megaphone smashed in his face by a man who was apparently one of Warren’s supporters.

“What happened was … at this event we were holding a peaceable assembly, the police had allowed us on an open area owned by the public to talk and share our views about racism,” Ayyadurai said. “Also about Warren’s hypocritical positions.”

Ayyadurai was accosted by a man who had a T-shirt that said “Liberal” and an umbrella I’m assuming he didn’t bring over because he was afraid it might rain. The man began calling Ayyadurai a racist (I thought POCs couldn’t be racist? This guy really needs to check his white privilege), which prompted a response from the candidate.

“So I obviously called him a racist, because we want to define racism for what it really is,” Ayyadurai said. “That a small set of white liberals in this country — including Elizabeth Warren — have defined it in very narrow bounds.”

So, Ayyadurai called the man a racist, which led to the latest assault against someone for their conservative political beliefs. (It’s the kind of incident that’s getting too common these days.)

Check out the interview here:

Warren has yet to condemn the act. Perhaps worse, some in the media have even questioned whether the incident actually constituted anything serious. (Well, at least CNN’s Chris Cuomo has, which should surprise virtually no one given the other things Cuomo has said.)

Which led to this:

Something tells me I wouldn’t be waiting for that call.

Do you think Elizabeth Warren should publicly reject this sort of violence?

Ayyadurai — a faculty lecturer the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Bioelectrical Engineering Division, according to The Washington Post, who claims to have invented email when he was only a teenager — told The Daily Caller that he plans to press full charges against the man, who was arrested for his actions at the Sunday event, according to The Daily Caller. His arraignment was on Monday.

Ayyardurai also plans a civil suit.

“We want to make people like this an example,” Ayyardurai said.

In addition to challenging Warren to disavow this act of violence, Ayyardurai wants Warren to take a DNA test to prove her heritage. Apparently, he’s not buying the “high cheekbones,” either.

Much like the Chris Cuomo idea, wouldn’t be holding my breath on that one, either.
