Report: Trump Will Be Stealing the Spotlight During Democrat Debates

Share

If there’s one thing Americans on all sides of the political aisle should be able to agree on, it’s that President Donald Trump is no stranger to stealing the show.

In 2016, then-candidate Trump decided at the last minute to skip out on a Fox News Republican debate so he could host his own fundraiser for veterans, during which he raised a staggering $6 million, according to CNBC.

Now, more than two years into his presidency, Trump is reportedly looking to pull another debate-related stunt that could cause chaos.

He wants to live-tweet the upcoming 2020 Democrat presidential debates.

That’s right. According to The Wall Street Journal, which cited “people familiar with the matter,” the president is looking to issue a barrage of thoughts — all within Twitter’s 280-character limit — during the first debates, which are scheduled to take place on June 26 and 27.

Are you looking forward to Trump live-tweeting his thoughts during the Democrat debates?

This probably won’t be too different from his recent Twitter rampages against some of the 2020 Democrat candidates.

Trump has been particularly fond of going after Democrat front-runner “Sleepy Joe” Biden, who he’s already criticized on multiple occasions.

“China is DREAMING that Sleepy Joe Biden, or any of the others, gets elected in 2020. They LOVE ripping off America!” Trump tweeted in May.

“Joe Biden got tongue tied over the weekend when he was unable to properly deliver a very simple line about his decision to run for President. Get used to it, another low I.Q. individual!” the president said later that month.

Some of the more progressive Democrat candidates, like Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, have also been on the receiving end of Trump’s often-brutal tweets.

“Crazy Bernie has just entered the race. I wish him well!” Trump tweeted in February after Sanders announced he was running.

“Pocahontas (the bad version), sometimes referred to as Elizabeth Warren, is getting slammed. She took a bogus DNA test and it showed that she may be 1/1024, far less than the average American. Now Cherokee Nation denies her, ‘DNA test is useless.’ Even they don’t want her. Phony!” Trump wrote last October, referring to Warren.

The Twittersphere is intrigued by what could happen during the upcoming Democrat debates, with one commentator proposing that Trump’s live tweets be aired on-screen as the debate happens.

The Washington Examiner’s Siraj Hashmi, meanwhile, suggested there’s only one way Trump could take it to the next level.

“Tbh it would be a major disappointment if Trump *didn’t* live-tweet the Democratic debates. The only thing that would be more on-brand for Trump is if he held separate rallies during the debates to stretch newsrooms thin,“ Hashmi tweeted

A live-tweet counter-event by Trump may give great insight into where he currently stands on a variety of issues.

It’ll also show the nation how Trump is prepared to respond to the inevitable attacks that will be levied against him during the Democrat debates and beyond.

Regardless, it could be a first in America’s long, fascinating political history.
