Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has been in some hot water lately because of his comments about Khizr Khan, the father of an American Muslim who was killed in Iraq while serving in the U.S. military. Pundits have been speculating whether or not these remarks are politically advantageous, and radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh doesn’t seem to think so.
During one segment of his broadcast he answered a caller who said he was a “die-hard” Trump supporter. The man was upset because it appeared to him that the real estate mogul couldn’t stay on topic, was too distracted and didn’t actually care about winning the nomination.
“Why doesn’t he just bury her and keep on topic? It’s driving us crazy,” the man asked. “I have friends who think that he doesn’t really want to win, that he’s really not serious about it because what does he care if he doesn’t win?

Limbaugh offered a bit of consolation, saying he thought Trump did care but was just too wrapped up in defending himself.
“I think, believe that he is the only person that can defend himself against any of these assaults,” he said, responding to the caller. “And that’s why he does seem to take these things personally and seek to refute them. This has been his modus operandi before he got into politics. If you attacked him, he went after you, whether it seemed to make sense or not.”
But Limbaugh thought a line needed to be drawn and that Trump should stop taking things so personally. “That’s not wise,” he said.

The radio host said he had no problem if the Republican nominee wanted to run a street fight campaign, but he suggested Trump should pick and choose his battles. Limbaugh said nothing was to be gained by going after people who have lost their son in combat.
“Trump’s got to stop running against the Khans and anybody else they trot forward to insult him,” he said.
