Russia's 'High Tech' Robot Turns Out To Be One of the Country's Biggest Hoaxes
State-owned media in Russia praised a robot for its modern technology, but it turned out to be a man in an expensive robot suit.
The alleged high-tech robot known as “Boris” was featured on one of Russia’s state-owned news channels, Russia-24, according to The Guardian.
“Robot Boris has already learned to dance and he’s not that bad,” the news channel boasted.
Boris boasted its own abilities as well.
“I know mathematics well, but I also want to learn to draw,” Boris said before dancing on stage.

Later photographs caught the attention of keen observers who noticed that a human was visible inside the robot.

As it turns out, the Boris was an “Alyosha the Robot” costume made by a company called Show Robots. The costume costs a little over $3,300.
This fake “robot” debacle is laughable. It makes you wonder about the Russians’ supposed ability to influence the 2016 presidential election, as leftists claim.
The left consistently credits Russia with a successful “fake news” campaign carried out by hackers and bots. In reality, many of the “Russian bots” identified by social media platforms turned out to be real people — just like Boris.
The more serious threat is posed by China, which coordinates real propaganda campaigns targeted at the United States.
In addition, Chinese hackers have attempted to steal trade secrets and intellectual property from American companies on numerous occasions.
China doesn’t need to use a man in a suit to display its technology.
If Russia was as competent as the left believes, Russian state-owned media wouldn’t have peddled this robot hoax.
