Following Tuesday’s final Decmocratic primary of 2016, Sen. Bernie Sanders is scheduled to meet with presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
In an interview Sunday with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Sanders said, “I will be meeting with Hillary Clinton, as I understand it, on Tuesday evening.” He said he wanted to discuss the party’s platform for the upcoming presidential campaign, which he hopes it will include tax increases for the wealthy along with more assistance for the poor and working people.
Although unwilling to admit defeat and concede to Clinton, Sanders’ actions and comments seem to indicate that he is willing to do his part in defeating presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Speaking on Meet The Press, Sanders said, “I am doing everything that I can and will continue to do everything that I can to make sure that Donald Trump does not become president of the United States. I think this man in a dozen different ways is not fit to become president.”
It appears that, after his meeting with President Obama on Thursday, Sanders has put aside his plans to lobby superdelegates or disrupt the Democratic Convention in July in an effort to win the nomination.
The Associated Press reported that as of June 7, Clinton had garnered enough delegates to win the nomination. She went on to win the California and New Jersey primaries.

The final Democratic primary will be Tuesday in the District of Columbia. Clinton is expected to walk away with a majority of D.C.’s delegates.
Discussing his campaign, Sanders stated he was proud that his campaign was able to attract the majority of young Democratic voters. He sums it up by saying, “What that tells me is that our ideas…(are) the future of this country,” he said. “The American people want real change in this country. They are not happy with status-quo politics.”
